Adding Character And Humor To An
Otherwise Drab World Wide Web

Celebrating A Presence On The Web

Website History

The month of March is a landmark anniversary every year. It was in March of 1989 that Tim Berners-Lee, a British computer scientist, wrote a proposal to his employers at CERN for a somewhat abstract "global hypertext" system he called Mesh. The 1989 proposal was meant for a more effective CERN communication system but Berners-Lee eventually realized the concept could be implemented throughout the world. Berners-Lee and Belgian computer scientist Robert Cailliau proposed in 1990 to use hypertext "to link and access information of various kinds as a web of nodes in which the user can browse at will", and Berners-Lee finished the first website in December of that year and later re-named that system the World Wide Web.

A little more than 5 years later in March of 1996, I started this website with modest coding and graphics with the URL of At that time many of the websites we take for granted hadn't even been created on the web yet. Yahoo, Geocities, AOL and AltaVista didn't have a website until later in 1996. Google came along in 1997. Youtube and CNN didn't appear until after 2000. Back then, Search Engine Optimization wasn't needed so therefore, hadn't been invented.

Over the last 22+ years I have been proud to be a part of the web from a programming and graphics standpoint. I've always felt that I was one of the few that got in on the ground floor. Over the years, the look and feel of my website has changed utilizing various internet themes and domain names, but its purpose and mission hasn't changed. I believe that change is an integral part of the success of a website. That's why I've changed the format of my website on a regular basis. Below is a historical snapshot of the front page of each website I've coded and utilized since March of 1996.
